What Does Hornsted Mean?

I think people expect some deep family history or a profound story behind it.

But the truth is, it's actually pretty simple.

I've been a passionate hunter for 6+ years, and to me there was no greater rush than seeing a huge mature whitetail buck walk into view.

So because of that passion, I decided that I'd try my hand at make a hunting apparel brand.

After months of brainstorming for a name, I came up with Hornsted. It sounded pretty rugged and outdoorsy. It was perfect.

I commissioned for a logo to be made, I registered the business, I paid for a domain name for my website.

It was all going according to my plan.

But even after going through all these steps and making all of this progress, something still felt off.

Around that same time, God was drawing me back to Him.

The original logo that I just recently had made and loved, no longer had me excited.

Over the next few weeks, every Christian song that came on and every sermon I happened to stumble across seemed to carry the same message. They didn't feel random anymore.

I kept hearing the same thing.

Jesus gave His life for me.

Even in my brokenness, He loved me enough to die in my place.

It's something that I've always heard while growing up in church, but it wasn't until that moment that I really felt it.

If you know, you know.

So I had a new logo made, with the cross on a hill as the centerpiece.

From that point on, Hornsted became more than just clothes.

It became about pointing people to the One who changed my life.

So what does Hornsted mean?

To me its a reminder.

God doesn't ask us to start over - He redeems what's already there and gives it a new purpose.

That's the story behind the name.
